Physical skills are a core component of adult learning, yet they are often overlooked in professional development programs. Understanding how adults acquire, refine, and demonstrate physical and motor skills is essential for trainers, educators, and L&D professionals who design hands-on or applied learning experiences.
This course walks learners through Bloom’s Taxonomy with a focus on the psychomotor domain — the domain of action, coordination, and physical performance. Learners will explore how adults progress through stages of physical skill development, from basic imitation to full naturalization, and how to apply that understanding in workplace training design. Topics covered include Dave’s Psychomotor Model, Harrow and Simpson’s frameworks, gross and fine motor control, agility, precision, endurance, and how to plan training that accounts for physical learning differences. Each module includes real-world case studies and review questions to reinforce learning. This course is part of the Professional Effectiveness Skill Path, which covers 24 courses in personal development, emotional intelligence, and workplace readiness. L&D professionals and trainers may also benefit from the Human Resources and Talent Development Skill Path.
